ROAD THAT LED TO FREEDOM

CIRCLE OF HOPE - LAST 100 MILES TO FREEDOM INCLUDING A REENACTMENT (DRN0807) ~ Over and over again they repeated the cryptic directions whispered by the farmer, the preacher and the agent who sent them on from the last station. They came running, walking, riding, concealed and camouflaged. Their goal was freedom and their beacon was a star . . . the North Star. This itinerary showcases the life and times of three historical figures - Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman and Susan B. Anthony. Visit the homesteads, museums and gravesites as we explore their roots of history in Rochester and their involvement with the Underground Railroad. A talented cast of reenactors bring these and other brave supporters to life with compelling accounts of historical incidents which allowed hundreds of fugitive slaves to pass through Rochester enroute to Canada and freedom. This three-day tour features rooms, all admissions, the reenactment and five meals including the show "Freedom Under the Stars" at a local dinner theatre.

NATIONAL UNDERGROUND RAILROAD FREEDOM CENTER (DCZ0863) ~ The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is located on the banks of the Ohio River in downtown Cincinnati. A $110-million facility, the Freedom Center features three pavilions, celebrating courage, cooperation and perseverance. The story of freedom is woven through the heroic legacy of the Underground Railroad and the American struggle to abolish human enslavement and secure freedom for all people. Using the Underground Railroad as a lens through which to explore a range of freedom issues, the Freedom Center offers lessons and reflections on the struggle for freedom in the past, in the present and for the future. And it helps visitors discover the power of one voice – shared with many – by speaking out about the meaning of freedom. This two-day package features roundtrip transportation, rooms, admissions to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, dinner, continental breakfast, luncheon-cruise on the Ohio River and time to shop at Newport on the Levee. The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center can also be included enroute to or from the Grand Victoria Casino or Belterra Casino. (Page 26)
