The “Sound of Music” is a Broadway musical and a film based on the book “The Story of the Trapp Family Singers” by Maria von Trapp. The film version was one of the biggest box office hits in cinema history, featuring such hits by Rodgers & Hammerstein as “Edelweiss”, “My FavoriteThings”, “Climb Ev’ry Mountain”, “Do-Re-Mi” and “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” . . . as well as the title song itself.

This special, upgraded (and expanded for 2008) tour includes one extra night enroute at the beautiful Turning Stone Casino Resort with two additional meals this year, four nights of rooms at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont, during one of the prettier months of the year in the mountains, when the sunlight is sparkling off the dew-coated mountains in the mornings. And, what better way to start our day than with a full country breakfast? Completing each of our days of touring and relaxing, the Trapp Family Lodge’s staff will be preparing each guest a three-course dinner.

In Vermont we’ll be enjoying great touring with stops at Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory, sampling the “flavor of the day” as well as selecting an ice cream cone. There will be stops at a chocolate company, coffee roaster, Cabot Cheese and the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory Annex (which offers their personalized teddy bears on our area radio stations before every major holiday). Another fascinating visit will be made to the Rock of Ages Granite Quarry (seeing the “Granite Capital of the World” from the comfort of our motorcoach), Montpelier (the capital of Vermont) and a maple syrup farm. One day we’ll be having lunch aboard the “Spirit of Ethan Allen” during our narrated cruise on Lake Champlain. Each day we will be back at the Lodge for “Afternoon Tea and Cookies” . . . making for an even more-memorable tour.
