FALLINGWATER, FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT’S MASTERPIECE Wednesday, June 25, 2008 Saturday, August 2, 2008 One-Day Tours with One Meal $86.00 per person Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, in Mill Run, Pennsylvania, was completed in 1939. Constructed of sandstone quarried right on the property, the stone serves to separate reinforced concrete trays which form the living room and bedroom levels. The house has an absolutely beautiful view, being cantilevered over a flowing stream, leading the house to be described as “the house that summed up the 20th century and then thrust it forward still further”. These tours permit you to see one of the few remaining homes designed by this colorful genius, readily identifiable by the “pork pie” hat that he wore. (Children under nine years old and cameras are not admitted into the home.) We’ll be enjoying a luncheon in the Mill Run/Somerset area and visiting a most unique candy company in Trafford, Pennsylvania. The owner of this store, believe it or not, perfected a chocolate-covered pickle for Mr. Heinz, to recognize his success with the pickle (in its various forms). This is a fascinating one-day Pennsylvania tour with great dining. Also see our Saturday, August 2nd tour. Departure Points
Stops will be made only at locations with passenger sign-ups.
