NEW YORK’S
CHAUTAUQUA WINE TRAIL
Wednesday, June
25, 2008
One-Day Tour
with One Meal
$89.00 per
person
Today you’ll be learning the history of grape growing in Chautauqua
County, New York’s largest grape-growing region, beginning our grape experience
at Willow Creek Winery. Here we’ll be tasting several different wines. You’ll be
learning how to properly taste wine and how the tongue produces each taste.
We’ll be traveling along the Seaway Trail seeing the mansions on the Avenue,
hearing about the War of 1812, the Underground Railroad, the W.C.T.U. and the
U.S. Grange # 1. You’ll be dining at the historic White Inn, a charter member of
the Duncan Hines family of fine restaurants. You’ll find the wide variety of
each guest room most interesting. During the afternoon we’ll be touring the wine
cellars at Woodbury Vineyard, seeing the pressure pad, tank room and bottling
line . . . and then we get to taste several of their wines. At our third winery,
the Merritt Estate Winery, you’ll see the oak barrels that age the wines before
entering their high-tech bottling line. Maybe you’ll be so knowledgeable that
you’ll be asked to “grade each wine”. All passengers on this tour must be at
least 21 years of age.
