MICHIGAN’S UPPER
PENINSULA . . . SOO LOCKS & CANADIAN RAIL
New, Expanded Premium Itinerary, now with SS Valley Camp Ship
This year we are pleased to offer this expanded five-day itinerary to the
most popular attractions in both the Upper and Lower Peninsula of Michigan.
We’ll be visiting Mackinac Island, Sault Ste. Marie (Michigan and Ontario) and
The Bavarian Village of Frankenmuth. This tour features transportation by deluxe
motorcoach, cruise boat, a passenger train, horse-drawn carriage and a
high-speed ferry . . . plus eight delicious meals. For a unique attraction,
we’ve added the fascinating museum ship Valley Camp, an actual 1917 Great Lakes
freighter that now houses a museum with over a hundred exhibits in Sault Ste.
Marie.
Mackinac Island is just a short ferry ride from mainland Michigan and is a
beautiful sight, where its primary form of transportation is horse carriages.
Motorized vehicles are prohibited on the island. We’ll be seeing all that the
island has to offer as we take our carriage ride, ending near the historic Grand
Hotel (see photo above) where you’ll be enjoying their delicious buffet
luncheon. There will be time for shopping and browsing. Don’t forget to enjoy a
piece of their popular fudge. We’ll also be enjoying the Soo Locks which has
been referred to as one of the great wonders of the world and is still the
largest waterway traffic system on earth. We’ll be cruising through the locks
while enjoying a great dinner. No passport is required in 2008. This expanded
tour includes one of the most popular train excursions in North America. This
one-day train tour takes us 114 miles north of Sault Ste Marie, traveling
through the wilderness over trestles, alongside pristine northern lakes & rivers
and through the awesome granite rock formations and mixed forests of the
Canadian Shield. Through the large picture windows of our comfortable coach,
you’ll be experiencing the same vistas and panoramas that inspired various
artists to create some of Canada’s most notable landscape art. There will be two
meals served aboard the train. We’ve also set aside some time at a casino or for
shopping at Mackinaw Crossings Shops.
• Eight meals including a dinner
in Frankenmuth at the Bavarian Inn, the fantastic Grand Buffet at the Grand
Hotel and a deluxe dinner enroute home. PS: The Grand Hotel has long been known
for its dessert table which no one can “pass up”. Two meals are served aboard
the train.
• There will also be some time for those wanting to visit Kewadin Casino and/or
Mackinaw Crossings.
• Roundtrip ferry service to Mackinac Island
• A narrated Soo Locks tour...plus
dinner aboard the boat. You’ll actually travel through a lock! The Soo Locks
have been referred to as one of the great wonders of the world.
• Horse carriage tour of the Island to see the beauty of
nature undisturbed
• Bronner’s Christmas Store and its Silent Night Chapel, a replica of the
memorial chapel in Oberndorf, Austria
• Enjoy the extra quality that Great Day! Tours includes in its tours . . .
