SHAW FESTIVAL AT NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE - TWO SHOWS Saturday - Sunday, August 2 - 3, 2008 Two-Day Premium Tour with Two Meals & Two Shows $524.00 per person $86.00 single supplement This is a "top-notch" tour to one of the Niagara Regions most renowned attractions . . . the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Visiting this quaint town is like "taking a stroll back through history". This two-day tour will be even nicer since we will be staying at the White Oakes Inn & Racquet Club in Niagara-on-the-Lake where you can relax or use the facilities. There is no finer lodging of this type in the Region. On Saturday morning we will be traveling directly to Niagara-on-the-Lake where you’ll have time on your own to shop and browse along this tree-lined town, as well as taking time to purchase lunch or a snack. Dinner will be very special this evening since we have upgraded it to dine at the elegant Prince of Wales in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Afterwards we’ll be enjoying a delightful evening at the first of two anticipated performances we’ve included at The Shaw Festival. The Shaw Festival is unique as you can find anywhere else in the world, the work of George Bernard Shaw and his contemporaries presented by an extraordinarily-talented ensemble of sixty-five actors performing in three theatres. While this year’s show inclusions were still to be confirmed at the time of this book being published, it is anticipated that we will be enjoying the following shows: Our first show, the musical "Mack and Mabel" at the Festival Theatre, highlights the movie industry. Beginning in the early days of movie-making it follows the industry and its "big names" including Mack Sennett and his gallery of stars, including Mabel Normand, the love of his life and the biggest star of them all . . . all set to music. Our second show, performed at the Royal George Theatre, will be George Bernard Shaw’s "The Philanderer". Our every romantic notion is completely turned upside down when an uncommonly attractive and clever "heel" meets his match in this swaggering tale of the battle between the sexes. On Sunday morning you’ll have some additional time to wander through this quaint village and, at noon, we’ll be enjoying a Brunch at the Pillar & Post Inn. Queen Elizabeth once dined at this Inn. A visit here is most memorable with freshly-cut flowers adorning every part of the lobby. At 2:00 PM we will be enjoying the second performance at The Shaw Festival before we depart for home, sorry only that the delightful weekend has to eventually come to a close. We will, however, be departing with great memories of the performances at The Shaw Festival, the meals, the beautiful Inns and the ambiance of this Village which has been home to many a Sea Captain over the years.
